Day 12: Santa Loves Peanut Butter Cookies

As all of the elves know, Santa has quite a sweet tooth. Mrs. Claus is always baking cookies and pies. Santa is always telling her how much he likes her cooking as he takes another piece of pie.

Santa likes candies and pies, but his favorite of all desserts is cookies. What kind of desserts do you like? Do you know what is Santa's favorite cookie of all?

Santa makes sure he comes home early every Friday night because that's the day Mrs. Claus bakes his favorite, Peanut Butter Cookies!

Peanut Butter Cookies

Here's what you'll need:


3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tbs. milk
1 tbs. vanilla
1 egg
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
Directions

Heat oven to 375 degrees;. Combine peanut butter, shortening, light brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg. Beat just until blended. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture at low speed. Mix just until blended. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.

Variation: Flatten slightly in crisscross pattern with tines of fork. Bake at 375 degrees; for 7 to 8 minutes, or until set and just beginning to brown. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to kitchen counter.
