FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reindeer Games Commence

North Pole--Another successful Reindeer games commeneced this Saturday following the closing ceremonies and the extinguishing of The Reindeer torch. The medal winners took one last lap around the stadium as the elf fans went wild.

Notable medal winners included: The Donners who took a gold in pairs figure flying, Dasher who took his 19th gold in short distance sled pulling, Blitzen took the silver in bobsleding in his first Reindeer Game.

The antler ring toss was quite a success and Prancer pranced home with the gold despite the recent protest from other reindeer who claimed that the participates were using illegal antler enhancement drugs to increase the size and chances of their antlers. Random drug testing was done throughout the games and gladly, none of the participants were found guilty.

Santa called the games a wonderful, jolly success. Many of his top Elf Board were present to give the winners their medals.

Next on the agenda is of course Christmas. As the Santa, the elves and reindeer gear down for their long journey the memory of smell of victory and the agony of defeat at the Reindeer Games will remain as a lasting memory.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Writing Activity:
Write a Feature Article

Pretend you are journalist at The Holland Sentinel. It is your responsibility to cover North Pole news and you just received the press release about the reindeer games. You and your editor decide the story should be the feature article of your section. You need more information than what's in the press release to write such a feature story, so you would have to call and interview people to find out more information about the games.

Who would you call for more information? What questions would you ask? Pick two people (or reindeer) to interview and write down ten questions you would ask these people for more information. You can also partner with a friend who will "answer" these questions so that you can write a feature story. Be sure to answer the questions your friend writes so he can write a feature story too! Have fun!

Think your article should really be published? Send it to the chief elf!
