Day 6: This Gift Idea is for the Birds! |

Simon, the littlest elf, was looking out the window of his cozy elfhouse when we saw his favorite birds, Mr. and Mrs. Robin, sitting outside on a bare branch singing merrily. Simon started to think, "If Santa brings gifts to all of the children, who gives gifts to the animals of the earth?" Simon decided that he would give the two birds a Christmas gift. Simon thought for a while. He decided they didn't need toys because they couldn't fit them in the birdhouse. He finally decided to make them a tasty winter treat because food is harder to find in the winter. He went outside and was walking around when he saw his friend Anton. When he told Anton what he wanted to do, Anton suggested they gather pinecones and put the food on them with something sticky. The two took the pinecones to the kitchen, where the cook gave them some peanut butter and some birdseed. After they finished making the treats, they tied them in the trees where the birds could eat them. Mr. and Mrs. Robin quickly found the treats and sang quite loudly for the rest of the day. Anton and Simon were very glad they helped the birds, and the cook decided to give them cookies for their good deed. Why don't you do the same for the birds around your house? This would be a great activity to share with your friends and family. |
